Have heard that there is a revolving restuarant / bar in NY with tremendous views. Dont know the name of it, can anyone help. Also whats it like, expensive?.
Revolving Restaurant / BarIt%26#39;s called ';The View';, and it is on top of the Marriot Marquis Hotel.
I have never been there, but I would think they have their menu on line somewhere, if you Google it.

I think the food is not very good - esepcially for the price - but it is a nice view.
I went last year and it cost almost $100 for a meal and a drink. Been there done that and wouldnt return for a meal. I would go for a drink and even that is expensive. If you dont have a window seat you wont get to see a lot without straining your necck. I personally think there are a lot better views of NY to be had.
The food was slightly above average nothing spectacular for the price. Hope this helps.
I went to the view 18months ago before it was renovated. I%26#39;m going to NYC for New year and plan to take my mates up there, I belive they do a buffet for $24.95 - bargin!! The views are amazing, well worth it!!
I went to the Marriott Marquis one Saturday evening a couple of weeks ago with my parents. We had to wait awhile to catch the lift and be seated, but the time quickly passed. Yes, its nice to have a table seat, but we had a table on the raised level which meant that you could see more of the views. Seeing the lights of New York whilst having a good glass of white wine - excellent! However, it%26#39;s not cheap - but then as long as you know that and are prepared to pay a bit extra for the views, then its well worth a try. They provide an all you can eat buffet, I think it%26#39;s $30. Service is good and friendly.
I went just last weekend after a show. There was a line to be seated but it passed very quickly. We were seated about three tables back from the window on an upper level and could just see the buildings straight out. There were also buffets set up that looked good but we just had a drinks. In addition to a $14 glass of wine, there was a $7 cover for each. The music was loud and hip hop, not in keeping with the older, more refined looking crowd. While the revolving thing was interesting and afforded a 360 view, I ended up a little sea sick. I think it revolved too fast. I was glad I went but I think I%26#39;d find another place next time.
It doesn%26#39;t revolve too fast. I do hope you are kidding. It%26#39;s a very good restuarant and is pricey. You can also just go to the bar and have some drinks. I dont know about bar prices because we had bottled wine with our dinner.

Most New Yorkers don%26#39;t go to The View atop the Marriott Marquis.....it%26#39;s not value for money and there are better views elsewhere.
If you want to wait with tourists, drink at the bar with tourists, and eat with tourists.....this is the place for you.
SUSS....hmmm...you make socializing with tourists sound like a step below bedbugs. Any of these restarants people recommend on here will have tourists. Tourists are real, live, human beings with actual thoughts that can partake in stimulating discussion. Eating with tourists means you may meet someone from across the country, or another country altogether, which would be very interesting.
I accept the chiding.....and consider it deserved.
What I should have said, perhaps, is that there are many more interesting places where you can learn about the life that we live here. Of course tourists are real and interesting people. Than goes without saying.
However, many people, when they travel, would rather experience the local scene instead of that which is dished up for visitors.
In general, my own experience is that I%26#39;d rather meet the locals than the other travelers who are also trying to meet the locals and expereience the local milieu.
No right or wrong here, and no intention to offend.
There will always be people happiest when travelling with other visitors, and we%26#39;re happy with that too.
