shuttle from BUF to hotels in Niagara Falls

I am having trouble finding a reasonably-priced shuttle to and from the airport to my hotel. It seems the airbus shuttle is about $90.00 per person, roundtrip with 2 pieces of luggage. Could this be correct? Seems awfully high for a 37-mile trip. Anybody know about this or can help me with this. I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!

Well that%26#39;s the going rate out here. It%26#39;s alot cheaper to just rent a car, and you can go at your own pace. All the rental agency%26#39;s for cars are right across from Buffalo Airport.

i would highly suggest skipping the shuttle and renting a car

Danny and Gecko - Thanks so much for the replies. We were told that most of the attractions, ie, Maid of the Mist, casinos, etc. are accessible by foot or shuttle. Is this true? Was told that you could walk over to the bridge from US to Canada in 10 minutes. Never having been to the area, it sounds like a VERY small town. Is it....are they....very small? Thanks again for the help. It%26#39;s greatly appreciated!

Hi Justa,

Yes most of the attractions are just a short walk from each other, but there are others such as:

Jet Boat rides in Lewiston

Whirlpool Park and Devils hole (with the awesome views of the Niagara Gorge)

Fort Niagara in Youngstown

and on the Canadian side

Niagara-on-the-Lake

that are best seen at your own pace and with a car to get around. The traffic is rarely an issue and you can linger at things that catch your eye. Also it will provide you with access to some marvelous places to eat that you may not find if you are confined to the downtown area.

Just a suggestion.

By the way, are you sure that your hotel does not provide a shuttle? Make sure you ask them.

Good luck, have fun!!!

buffalogirl - Thanks so much for the input. It%26#39;s so very helpful, never having been there before.

Hi Justatraveller.

I flew into Buffalo with two godsons aged 11 and 9 in July. We walked out of the airport from baggage collection and caught a Metro bus from the airport to downtown (ask for a transfer), that trip took about 40 minutes then walked one short block from bus stop to bus depot and caught a Metro bus to Niagara Falls which took less than an hour. Total cost for all three of us - $5.50!!!!!! I had been quoted $30.00 each one way by shuttle and $65.00 plus tip by taxi. I got the Metro bus tip from a taxi driver in Myrtle Beach SC who had grown up in Buffalo! Everything is within walking distance once you get there. We walked over the bridge into Canada and it did only take about 10 minutes. The boys were thrilled to have their passports stamped. Have a great time.

dear helen..thanks so much for your time and info..Corinne

yes taking a bus is a great option-if you don%26#39;t have too much baggage to shlep around-

The airport express bus is route 204 and it runs about every 35 minutes-it takes you right to the terminal--I am not sure if that route runs on the weekends-but there is a regular route to downtown-where you can catch a route 60 express bus to Niagara Falls-this only runs Monday-Friday afternoons-but it takes the thruway with few stops-all other times you will have to take the 40 to downtown Niagara Falls-that runs about every 35 minutes.

I actually take the route 60 bus a lot and it is usually crowded but either bus you take you will be getting on at the beginning of the route-so it won%26#39;t be too bad.

The bus is $1.50 when you get on-then as you cross zones it costs $.25-then the transfer costs .30-going to Niagara Falls you may be crossing about 5 zones-still far cheaper than the shuttle prices you got. I never even thought of taking the bus see how great this forum is-even locals learn new things.

check out www.nfta.com I think they have a metrobus link-

good luck to you and let us know how you make out.
