Looking for a family-friendly hotel in safe neighborhood in...

I%26#39;m thinking of traveling to the east coast with my husband and two small children (will be 3 and 10 months at the time of travel). I%26#39;m looking for a hotel is accomodating to families, has one-bedroom suites, and has amenities that would be useful for families (kitchens with decent-sized refrigerators, free use of cribs/cots), etc. Any suggestions/recommendations are welcomed! Thanks in advance for your help!

Check out The Kimberly Hotel on East 52nd Street. Nice neighborhood. Rooms by NYC standards are very nicely sized: bedroom (1 or 2 bedroom suites), living room and small kitchen area with fridge, etc. Embassy Suites down by Ground Zero is good option too. Both neighborhoods are different from each other, but fine. Something to start with anyway...

The Beacon is another good one.

You may also want to try The Milburn Hotel on the Upper West Side. Read all the reports here -- it%26#39;s more of a budget hotel, maybe a little scruffy -- but it%26#39;s a good value and the neighborhood is just great.

We are coming in March with our 2 and 7 yo dd%26#39;s and have been looking for exactly what you mention. We plan to stay at the Blakely--one bed suite with two double beds, separate living room with sofa/daybed, kitchenette, bathrooms with soaking tubs. Also has two flat screen tv%26#39;s and dvd players in each room. Nice little extras for children who want to watch Barney at 6 am while you are still waking up! In March it%26#39;s $285 a night--it%26#39;s cheaper earlier in the year. Don%26#39;t know when you are planning to go.

My husband and I also stayed at the Lucerne on the Upper Westside which was phenomenal and offers a similar suite, but their prices have gone through the roof since we stayed there. It was a great location though so if it%26#39;s in your price range I%26#39;d recommend it. ($360 a night for the suite).

A budget choice is the Salisbury. Great reviews and location. Not as nice as the Lucerne or Blakely. Rates are about $230 a night for the time we are going.

Anyway, hope all this helps. I know your time period might have different prices but you can get an idea from these examples.

All of the Affinia properties are all suites as well from what I understand. They are well reviewed too.

Good luck!

The Beacon Hotel at West 75th and Broadway in the Upper West Side would be a perfect choice. One and two bedroom suites with fully stocked kitchenette, safe, family friendly area, affordable restaurants and markets adjacent, and short walk to Central Park, Natural History Museum and subway.. We stayed here last week and LOVED it! Also, very affordable rates. Brilliant Viand Cafe next door and Fairway Market across the street. An authentic feel of New York in this neighbourhood. Enjoy your trip!

Agree that the Upper West Side is the way to good, great family oriented area near transportation and attractions, many restaurants %26amp; shops, safe %26amp; beautiful.
