Help very much appreciated!

Hello all! Im due for my first visit to NYC 3-7 FEB and gonna be staying at the Renaissance Times Square, I intend to shop and sightsee in the day and at night really wanna check out the nightlife. What Im looking for is any suggestions of bars/clubs to visit?! they dont have to be tourist type bars for example, just the sort of places where me and a friend can have a drink and maybe get the chance to mingle with some ladies!

Ok me and my mate are late 20s and enjoy dance, r and b also some chart music, just a real mixture of music,

Much prefer a bar/club with some get up and go as opposed to just sitting and looking good.
