I am bringing a bus load of shoppers from Ohio to NYC in Sept. for 2 nights, am looking for good group rates, but want a clean hotel. I have stayed at some pretty dirty ones, and am a little nervous about bringing all these people up and having them want to throw me off the bus!
Need a good location too. Hae gotten decent prices from Comfort Inn Manhattan and am waiting on quotes from Red Roof Inn, Super 8 Times Square, Travel Inn, and Double tree.

The Comfort Inn midtown is a better hotel I think than CI Manhattan. Red Roof is a good budget place. I would NOT go with the Super 8. Have you read recent reviews here?? The Travel Inn is a good budget hotel and has free parking (the only place in Manhattan that does) but not for a bus. ;) There are 2 Doubletrees. The Doubletree Guest Suites Times Square is terrific. The other one is decent but small rooms.
What sort of shopping are you planning? Some of the best bargains can be found downtown (Century 21, Orchard St., Chinatown). If the focus of the trip is shopping, you might do better with a downtown hotel. Look at the Cosmopolitan in Tribeca. YOu might even get a fabulous deal on one of the fancy downtown hotels in the financial district if your stay includes a weekend when they%26#39;re slow. The Marriott Financial Center, the Millenium Hilton and the Ritz Carlton Battery Park are worth contacting.

Try the Milenium Hilton downtown on Church Street and Dey St. Great group rates for a high-ranking hotel. We used it for our wedding out of town guests. Super convenient. Ask for Yoleida Rodriguez.
Search this forum for Milenium Hilton (spelled with one ';l';) for posts about this hotel.
