Best Value apartments for vacation stay

My husband and I want to visit NYC for 10 days in April and would like to know where the best located apartments for best value are?

Are you talking about renting an apartment for a short stay or staying in a hotel?

We are wanting an apartment or apartment type hotel that is reasonably priced and in a good central location , handy to transport

Im going to new york in a week or so and Im staying at the Best Western Hospitality House. CHECK OUT THE REVIEWS on this sight - they are pleasing! And the rooms are all apartment style, BIG with kitchenette, seperate living room. I booked with Quikbook - paid about $900 with taxes for 7 nights, basically unheard of for that size. I boooked it based on the reviews on this site. I will post my own thoughts when I get back but check them out in the meantime!!!

Have a look at RadioCity Apartments - We stayed there in a studio apartment over Thanksgiving - nothing fancy but good value and very clean www.radiocityapartments.com

I think the rate is $165 per night plus taxes

You%26#39;ve gotten 2 good suggestions. There is no ONE best imo though. For best value actually, staying in a more residential area like the upper westside or murray hill or Greenwich village might be better. You have endless options from apt/hotels, to apts. from an agent, to apts. through the owners (vrbo.com and newyork.craigslist.com)

How much do you want to pay and what amenities do you want? Staying in an apt/hotel gives you daily maid service, often a concierge, and sometimes even breakfast. The Salisbury (midtown near Central Park) is another popular apt/hotel option and has a $3 breakfast. The Beacon is on the upper westside and also a hotel and very good. West 11 th st Townhouse is in Greenwich Village and also good (but owners evidently a bit stiff via email).

nyhabitat.com and citylightsnewyork.com are for regualar apartments (no hotel services).

Just DO NOT use WooGo or Yourstay or Urbanstay as booking agents. Bad co. to deal with.

Can anyone tell me why accommodation seems to be scarce in April - I can understand the Easter parade, but the whole month seems crazy?

It shouldn%26#39;t be. What are your dates? What do you want to spend?

We can%26#39;t set dates at the moment but current timing would hopefully have us there late March, early april. Ideally we wouldn%26#39;t want to spend more tha USD200 per night.

The recommendations for some of the hotels like the Beacon and Salisbury would be suitable with their kitchen facilities.

We are quite happy using public transport but also would like to be in walking distance of most of the theatre district - my other half is a thespian from way back.

Thanks
