Lots of good choices:

Right around the corner on 8th Avenue is the Olympic Diner, an old-fashioned Greek diner that is very reasonably priced for the area.

A bit more pricey, but still very kid- and tourist- friendly is Pigalle, a 24-hour bistro-style restaurant on the corner of 48th St. and 8th Avenue.

On 9th Avenue, there is the Renaissance Diner (bet. 51st and 52nd St.) and Georgio%26#39;s Country Grill on the corner of 53rd. These a slighly more upscale than the Olympic, but still reasonable prices.

Remember that the Belvedere has kitchnettes in the rooms, so you can stock up on breakfast items and eat in the room if you wish. There%26#39;s a nice deli on the corner of 48th St. and the Amish Market on 49th St. and 9th Avenue where you can get all kinds of goodies for breakfast.

BTW, in case you%26#39;re tempted, skip eating breakfast at the Belvedere--I did not eat there, so I can%26#39;t say the food isn%26#39;t good, but it is pretty expensive. With so many good choices in the neighborhood, it%26#39;s not worth it.

We had b/fast at Pigalle most mornings when staying at the Belvedere. But, as the previous poster mentioned, there is a microwave/fridge/kichenette area in the Belvedere Rooms.

We also picked up some cheap throw away bowls, plates and cutlery and you could easily do cereals, muffins or pastries, fruit and juice in your room some days.

We had our accomodation and breakfast with a package at the Belvedere so found it very economical, and convenient for a family of 4. Anything like that offered in your hotel booking?

If you have kids who like to eat right away, the kitchenette does come in handy...even for snacks.

I%26#39;d second the Olympic Diner for breakfast ... great choice and a good buzz about it. Another good option is that deli. Belvedere doorman told us not to bother with their breakfast - said it was too expensive! so we didn%26#39;t even look at it. Have no idea how much it is.
