Photo Advice

Hi everyone,

I will be arriving in New York in a few weeks, and am planning to take LOTS of photos during my 8 days there. Basically, I would like your advice on the best places to take photos of anything in NYC (buildings, monuments, parks, bridges, neighbourhoods, skyline views,etc.), day or night. What would be your ';absolute must'; photos, and what time of the day would you take them?

Also, I%26#39;m really excited about the possibility of taking photos of Central Park covered in snow. Can anyone please tell me the best locations in the park to take some really beautiful photos if it does snow while we are there?

As always, any help will be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!

A friend got beautiful photos walking across the Queensboro bridge into Manhattan at sunset during the transit strike.

NYC is one giant photo op. You won%26#39;t be sorry for opportunites.

I%26#39;m thinking you%26#39;re thinking about photos that are perhaps uniquely NY or nearly so. I printed out this info on past posts for my own future reference. You might like a photo of the Mama Mia billboard near Ellen%26#39;s Stardust Diner, which is cornr Bdway and 51st. You might also like a photo of the Diner itself, which is intriquing(ellenstardust.com).

All those marquees in lights too.

I%26#39;m still fascinated somehow by the very very tall waterfall in the Trump Tower lobby. It%26#39;s difficult for %26#39;just a regular person%26#39; to take the shot I think because it%26#39;s so tall and in a sort of darker area. Daytime helps.

Some people enjoy signs. If you do you might find this site interesting: www.14to42.net/14to42.html with locations if you want to take similar shots;

forgotten-ny.com has some interesting stuff....even the manhole covers in NY are interesting.

Have fun!

I%26#39;ve copied this from a previous message:

My personal favorites are in Central Park. Here%26#39;s a site you can browse with lots of ideas:

I also like shots of NY landmarks in the background of our beautiful little parks -- Bryant Park is a favorite -- you can shoot the Empire State and Chrysler Buildings from there. And the Pulitzer Fountain next to the Plaza Hotel is a beauty. So is Madison Square Park, where you can get nice shots of the Empire State Building from the fountain.

Hope you share your photo album.
