hey everyone. I will be coming to NYC for this student workshop next year and I have a choice of hotels; however, I%26#39;d like to know which one is most convientant to public transportation into NYC, because that is where I will be spending much of my time. .

NYC Hotel Dilemma...
I suggest you also post your question on the New Jersey forum. I can tell you from Secaucus there is bus service into Manhattan but don%26#39;t know how far each of the Secaucus hotels would be from a bus stop.
From Edgewater there is also bus service plus I believe a number of smaller vans that also go into Port Authority. There%26#39;s a ferry service from Weehawken, south of Edgewater, but I%26#39;d guess it%26#39;s too far to walk. The ferry is also pricey at $5/person each way.
Probably the cheapest and fastest would be the PATH train from Jersey City from the Doubletree. Good reviews here

Just curious, none of these are particularly near each other. Where is your student workshop?
NYC Hotel Dilemma...
While my knowledge of Jersey City is not the best, based on MapQuest I think the Doubletree Hotel there is fairly close to the Newport/Pavonia Avenue station of the PATH train. If that is the case (any New Jersey people out there who can confirm?), then this is the most convenient hotel to public transportation into and out of NYC.
New Jersey transit has a great web site, just enter the addreas and a NYC address and it will tell you how to get there. There is a large hotel near the Newport path station and if it is the doubletree that would be great. The PATH runs 24/7 and only costs $1.50. You can get to Greenwich Village in about 15 min.
