dinner dress

hi everyone - looking forward to my trip to new york - first time but was just wondering whether jeans are ok for restaurants or diners in the evening - we are both travelling light and will be in jeans most of the time - we don%26#39;t have plans to visit any expensive restauurants so will we be ok

For casual dining you should be fine but why not bring 1 decent pair of trousers each just in case? Also, jeans are NOT very warm for walking around. Wool lined trousers (or even courdoroy) are much better imo.

that is true - might just pack some nice warm trousers just in case!!!

You sound like us. We%26#39;re in jeans most of the time. When I pack, I always include a pair of khakis and only pack tops that work with both jeans and khakis. When wearing jeans, you will have no problem finding a wide variety of places to eat. However, it%26#39;s always good to have a nice pair of pants in case you want to go to a place that calls for business casual.

Just back from NYC visit. It%26#39;s fine to wear ';stylish'; jeans pretty much everywhere, as far as I could tell. I wore gray/black wash skinny jeans (expensive, well-fitting)with boots and either a very long black cashmere sweater or a black velvet jacket or black turtelneck out to dinner every night. I live in California and don%26#39;t even own regular wool pants, though I did try to find some before I went to NYC but had no luck...but it was jsut fine without and I probably wouldn%26#39;t have changed from my jeans anyway. Hope that helps.
