10th anniversary celebration in NYC

hi all,

I%26#39;ve been hovering aroung the forum for a while, but absorbing all your great tips and advice. This was our fifth trip to NYC , but an extra special one because of our anniversary on December 23rd. Thanks to my nightly rendezvous with the forum, we had a really memorable trip.

The stike didn%26#39;t affect us at all, mind you we are originally from Northern Ireland.. so it takes more than a wee bit of walking to scare us off!

After settling in at our hotel, Jolly Madison Towers,(centrally located, clean) we hit the holiday markets at Union Park, Bryant Park and Central station, and while many of the vendors were the same, there was something very magical about wandering around in the open-air, bundled up, drinking hot cider and shopping under ';fairy lights';. I had really no desire to do the dept.store thing (much to the delight of my hubby!!)other than to see the window displays. Those windows are spectacular.. no matter what age you are. We both stood wide-eyed, gazing at the mechanical master-pieces along side little children and their parents. When our own daughter is of age she%26#39;ll be right along side us.

Thanks to some great web advice for purchasing broadway tickets, we had 2 for 1 tickets for the Rocketts Christmas show. Our seats were fantastic; isle seats, center stage. Bedazzling, entertaining... you know.. really , really good. Nothing could have prepared us for this show. We didn%26#39;t really know what to expect, but the 3-D opening and living natavity at the end were big hits in our opinion. The choreography was superb and reminded us alot of the way we felt when we saw Riverdance for the first time. Clicking heels in unison, precision clockwork movement, to coin a US phrase.. it was AWESOME!!

Something that I wanted to do on the day of our anniversary was to take a LONG walk in central park. We did!!

10 years ago my husband proposed at dusk in Hillsborough Park back in Northern Ireland. As the sun set, swans came swimming by to watch as he went down on bended knee. We couln%26#39;t make it home to celebrate but NYC-CP certainly did a great cameo!!!. My feet have almost recovered. We started at the Jackie O reservoir (around 39th street i think) and made our way down, through The Ramble to various monuments , ate at the Boathouse

(very yum!) and came out at the other end. A good walk for a girlie who is 4 months pregnant and not just a little out of shape from the last one!! (LOL)

We made our way to The Top Of The Rock and, thanks to some very helpful forum members, used our 2-4-1 voucher. Infact we had printed two copies of the email ( just-in-case) and were able to help out fellow visitors by giving them a spare copy which they gratefully made use of. It makes you feel good to share your blessings.

We ate, drank and made much merriment while in NYC and I can%26#39;t thank you regular contributors enough for all your help. I have passed some nuggets of gold to friends and family alike who now consider this forum top of their favorites list.

Wishing everyone a great new year for 2006. I%26#39;m just looking forard to another good year with the man of my life, our daughter and ';bump';(Due in June)

See you next time we come for a visit.
