Although Crowne Plaza was slightly out of the way...it was one of those precious travelling finds where you exhale when you walk in the door. You always worry when are arriving at your hotel after booking online. There was not one ounce in me that worried about being safe or the room being unclean. The rooms are small but pleasantly nice. The perfectly comfortable place to lay your head at the end of a exhausting touristy day. You just can%26#39;t beat the price. The day we were there I heard the lady say that rooms were available for $139/night. I would reccomend it to anyone and will return again for the price, for sure!
I also wanted to say that my favorite spot to visit was Serendipity 3...a little restaurant/cafe that was in the movie Serendipity and featured by Rachel Ray. Excellent Frozen Hot Chocolate and atmosphere. We even sat next to a famous person...Raymond Romano%26#39;s brother on the show Everybody Loves Raymond. There is a long wait though so go early, put your name in, then return later. It%26#39;s on 60th, btwn 2nd and 3rd.
ALSO happened upon this place called Chelsea Market on 15th street and 9th avenue. (I think) It%26#39;s a big building full of market type shops with great food and bakeries. Eleni%26#39;s is the best...Gweneth Paltrow%26#39;s favortie cookie spot, I guess. Also featured on the Food Network.
Those were my two favorite NYC experiences.
PS. Madame Trasaud%26#39;s was not worth the money. Cool, but just not enough for the money.
Just Returned from NYC-You'll Love Crowne Plaza and...
Sounds great, but how about some more info? What else did you do?

i like Mme. tussauds but the $30 charge is excessive i think.
Was it the Crown Plaza at the United Nations? We go there next month.

Sure was! You are going to love it! It%26#39;s a good bit of exercise to walk to the sights but well worth the price!!
Thanks - great to know that. We got it for $189 including breakfast on travelzoo which seems good value for that part of town. Don%26#39;t mind being a little bit out of the way, hotels just slightly out generally leave you feeling less ripped-off that central hotels in my experience.
We go for 5 nights on Jan 24th, no real plans yet other than Wicked matinee on 25th and dinner that night with a NY friend who interned with us over here. Top of the Rock and Serendipity 3 are on my list, hubby wants to do Empire State but I was really disappointed with it when I was there in 2000.
Any other suggestions would be gratefully received.
