1st time in New York Hotel help

Hi,

I am planning a trip to New York not until January 2007 but I want to book everything early as I like to be organised) I am looking for advice on hotels.

We are usaed to staying in nice hotels (4 or 5*) and was wanting a nice hotel in New York but at a good price, about 锟斤拷100 a night (more money for shopping!!) We would like to be central but am unsure what part of New york is best to stay in? We are looking to stay for 5 nights and want to see all the famous sites (Statue of liberty, Empire state, the zoo, Chrysler building etc) as well as all the shops. We dont really want to use the subway but dont mind walking so long as it isnt miles!!

Any advise would be really appreciated as I keep looking at hotels but there are so many to choose from so I was just looking for reccomendations.

Many Thanks

Michelle

1st time in New York Hotel help

There are hundreds of hotel options depending on what kind of vibe your looking for. The past couple of time that I%26#39;ve taken my son to NYC we%26#39;ve stayed at the Millenium hotel in Times Square. Once we did manage to get a $100 per night rate through Hotwire. That location worked well for us because there are lots of things to see in Times Square, including a huge Toys r Us store. It is also central because you had the museums to the north by Central Park, then the ESB, Grand Central, and everything else to the south.

If you don%26#39;t want to be in such a hectic area, midtown, outside of Times Square, might be a good bet. A hotel that I%26#39;ve stayed at a few times is the Eastside Marriot, which is only a few blocks up from Grand Central Station on Lexington Ave., across the street from the Waldorf Astoria. It%26#39;s also very close to the ESB and only a few blocks from 5th avenue and Park avenue shopping. I don%26#39;t think you could get it for $100 though, but possibly under $200.

That%26#39;s just my two cents.

Excellent thanks for the great advise.

Cazpiece it sounds like you had a ball on your trip. I get more and more excited after I have read something about ';the big apple'; I just wish I didnt have so long to wait!!

Demilo Thanks for that, I love the Hotwire link that is excellent. I have never seen a site like that before but its great, I think I will probably go for that when rates are out for January 07, its a bit of excitement not knowing exactly where you have booked for until after booking!!

Thanks a million to both of you you were both really helpful and I cannot wait to discover this wonderful city!!

Many Thanks

Michelle
