Cab rides to the airport from Hotel are way to go

We booked the shuttle to the hotel from the airport...total 37.00 plus tip. We wanted to avoid the increase in prices for a cab b/c of the strike. Usually there is a flat rate of $45 to a Manhattan hotel from the airport. HOWEVER, this morning when we went to the airport FROM the hotel it was only a $21.00 fare. I am sure glad we didn%26#39;t try to do something crafty like the subway and a bus to get to LGA when the cab ride was so cheap! I would say cab both ways next time. Shuttle took an hour to arrive...but once again it was during the strike.

first, the $45 flat rate taxi to Manhattan is from JFK not LGA; according to http://www.panynj.gov/aviation/lgtsmain.HTM

the expected rate from LGA to Manhattan is $21-30 + tolls + tip

second, taxi TO airports are metered so had there been an accident on the roadway, your fare would have been higher
