What is best?
We want to have a nice drink before going to Bread and Olive on 24 West 45th Street for a cheapie evening meal.
Can anyone help?
p.s. any opinions on Bread and Olive too?
Drinks with a view - Beekman Tower, Marriot Marquis or...
help please - bump! (sorry!)
Drinks with a view - Beekman Tower, Marriot Marquis or...
Try them all !
But seriously, I haven%26#39;t been to any of them so the following, which is based on what I%26#39;ve read here and my failing memory, may have some errors:
1. Marriott Marquis has terrific view of times square but I don%26#39;t think it is terribly high therefore the view is limited,
2. Rainbow Room, I recall the drinks are expensive but it is way up there altitude-wise and I think generally people here recommend it for one drink or so
3. I don%26#39;t recall much on Beekman Tower except, when we were in NYC last week, a gentleman we got to know said he used to go (long ago) there and it was nice.
The first two are in fairly close proximity (near t.s.).
Have fun.
Hi LarryD! Can%26#39;t wait to hear about your trip!
Actually, there are 2 bars at the Marriott Marquis. The Broadway Bar is lower with views of Times Square and there%26#39;s usually a piano player and it%26#39;s much quieter (and I think cheaper). The View is at the top of the hotel and the views are much more dramatic.
The Rainbow Grill is lovely and pricey. Problem there is often a line to get in and up. There%26#39;s also Above in the Hilton Times Square and Foley%26#39;s Fish House in the Renaissance Hotel. All of this would be more or less convenient to your dinner. The Beekman Tower is all the way across town on the east side and not convenient to your dinner plans. Getting cross town at holiday time is time consuming.
We stayed at the Marriott and had the buffet2002). We had to show our room card, otherwise they charge a fee - (I believe it was six or seven dollars) to those who are not registered guests. It was very beautiful buffet and the views were great, however, the drinks are pricey, and
I think the cover charge is quite steep.
Hiya
Can%26#39;t speak for the others but the Rainbow Grill is really great. If you are going for a cheapie evening meal though you might not want to go to the Rainbow Grill. (expensive)
Do you like the film Sleepless in Seattle? If so you have to go to the Rainbow Grill as it is in the film. The view is great.
Hope you have fun wherever you go.
