I will be in nyc over Xmas and on the day itself plan to stay mainly in the midtown area where we will look at the displays, Rockefeller Centre Tree and Iceskating, maybe see a movie. As regards lunch on Xmas Day the general opinion seems to be to go to Chinatown if you are not willing to spend megabucks on lunch. I quite like this idea but as most of the sights we will be seeing on Xmas Day are in midtown, is this really a good idea. Another thread has suggested Trattoria Trecolori as an inexpensive restaurant in the Times Square area where we are staying, would it still be a reasonable price for Xmas lunch or should we opt for sampling something in Chinatown.
Xmas Day eating in Chinatown
Yes, someone else posted (maybe it was you) about the same issue. Trattoria Trecolori could be a good option. Their website doesn%26#39;t indicate any special menu for Xmas nor does it say whether they%26#39;re open or closed. I%26#39;d perhaps phone or email them and find out.

I had also mentioned that going somewhere on the east side in midtown, away from Times Square and Radio City, might be a good idea. I found that the French rest. La Mangeoire was doing a reasonable prix fix of $35/person adults, $25 children.

I don%26#39;t think it makes a lot of sense to go down to Chinatown if all your other plans are midtown.
Look at holidays and events for the menu.
Xmas Day eating in Chinatown
Thanks NY Whiz
I have emailed Trattoria Trecolori about Xmas Day lunch so hopefully that could be an option.
Your other suggestion sounds good too, I%26#39;ll also follow that up.
Thanks American visitor for bringing up that question and thanks nywizz for your reply
I was thinking along the same lines for Xmas day without the ice-skating though. But I was going to go for a very late lunch in Chinatown in the afternoon and have a stroll around there as well. Still trying to sort out my iternary for the eight days I am here - Slow start as there is so many choices.
Hope you enjoy your trip.
