Going to NYC in April after a NY State/Ontario round-trip and would like to keep my car during 3-day-NY-stay. Any idea for a comfortable, clean and safe but not too expensive Hotel close to Manhattan (NJ, Queens, Brooklyn) where I can leave my car without or with just low parking fees. Would appreciate close Subway/LIRR-connection. Thanks in advance for your postings
NY Hotel with Free Parking and Subway/LIRR/Bus-connection.
Try the Travel Inn, they offer free parking and it located in Manhattan, gets very good reviews, and just a few blocks from Times Square.

If you do decide to stay at the Travel Inn, make your reservation well in advance as it is a very popular hotel.
I have stayed at the Travel Inn twice since they are the only place that offers free parking garage. The pros--garage, location, price, cleanliness. The cons--noisy, tiny bathroom, not plush by any means.
Check www.iconparking.com for additional garage information in Manhattan.
What%26#39;s your budget. You%26#39;ve gotten excellent advice so far but if we knew your budget, could offer other specific options. Your best bet is to stay in Manhattan. If Travel Inn is not to your liking, I agree finding another hotel and using a parking garage is a good option.
Will stay 2-3 nights in Manhattan in April but won麓t like to spend more than 150$/night incl. parking. Any idea what麓s the cheapest way to book Travel Inn? Or do you know any further hot deals?
Since I want to visit Niagara Falls for a day I further need a safe, clean motel/hotel 120-150 miles away from Manhattan towards Buffalo. Would you prefer Holiday Inn select or Howard Johnson or any other motel chain (Motel 6?) Any idea???
I%26#39;m not sure you%26#39;ll get the Travel Inn for $150 in April. Despite there being a special mentioned on their website for $125

if you book far enough in advance, trying all different dates for April, I still keep getting a $175 rate. I suggest you register for their specials.

Meanwhile, this co. also seems to own or manage the Newton Hotel on the upper east side. Those prices are much less.

While they don%26#39;t have onsite parking, if you can%26#39;t get the Travel Inn for $150 or less, you might be better at the Newton and use a separate garage. Look at iconparking.com Seems as though all the garages near there will be at least $25/day.
As to a place near the falls, with the help of tripadvisor, I wouldn%26#39;t pick ';a chain'; I%26#39;d pick a hotel based on reviews here.

Thanks for your extended reply.
Travel Inn is around 200$/night in April. Price is ok for the location. Would like to stay near Penn Station/Times Sq. My favourite hotel would be ';Affinia Manhattan'; on 7th Ave/31St. Just stayed there last week and I really enjoyed this hotel. Rates are approx. 250 USD/night (when booked through german travel agent), which would be acceptable. But to be honest, don麓t really know where to leave my car. MSG Parking is really expensive, isn麓t it?
Upper East Side is too far away for Manhattan stay without parking. If rates are much lower would also stay in NJ and use car or LIRR to get to Manhattan.
Anyway, will think about Travel Inn. Location is great, rate is ';ok';.
Actually, I%26#39;m not sure I%26#39;d want to spend $200/night to stay at the Travel Inn. It%26#39;s convenient and clean, but that%26#39;s steep imo. I would do anything to avoid staying outside of Manhattan. It%26#39;s a huge hassle, especially if you%26#39;re planning on going out in the evening. How do you change clothes, rest etc. Yuck. 2 roundtrips a day?
You could consider parking the car outside the city for a few days and staying in the city. There%26#39;s parking at the Port Imperial ferry in Weehawken. Then the ferry is $5/person and is a nice quick ride over to midtown. They have a free shuttle bus that takes you wherever you want.
First, I%26#39;d look on iconparking.com and see anywhere in Manhattan, what the cheapest parking would be. I%26#39;d maybe make a cancellable reservation somewhere and keep your eyes out for specials on travelzoo.com
Just found a 140$-rate/night for April 2006 on hotel.de (german hotel website) excl. taxes for the Travel Inn. Think I will use it, as I will get another 5% discount on this rate.
Weehawken sounds great (and might be much cheaper), but I won麓t waste my time with Hudson ferries when I am in the city for less than 48 hours.
just a note about the parking at Weehawken: it is $7 per day and not per 24-hour period; so if you arrive at 4pm one day and leave at 10am the next day, the fee is $14
someone from Boston posted about this
not sure why you want a rental car if you are flying into JFK?
