parking for barclay intercontinental

We are staying at The Barclay later this week. They advised me that parking was available for $45 and I assumed that they had their own garage but now I%26#39;m not so sure. If it%26#39;s not a garage but rather an off-site lot, might I be better off trying to secure my own parking? If so does anyone have any suggestions. What is the going rate for 24 hours of secure parking in Manhattan? We%26#39;ve never driven into the city so I have no experience with this. Is there any advantage liability wise to using their parking facility? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Do you plan on using the car while you are here? If so, the valet parking offered by the hotel is not a bad deal. Otherwise, I think you can find parking for less than $45 a few blocks east. But you won%26#39;t have ready access to the vehicle.

The only advantage of using their facility is convenience of giving the car to the doorman and walking into the hotel with the rest of your party. You%26#39;ll likely pay top dollar to do that.

Other than someone here knowing a specific bargain in that neighborhood (unlikely) the other option is to go to iconparking, put in your dates/times and see which garages are in the area that would cost less. I tried it and found they don%26#39;t have garages VERY close, but there are 2 on east 46 st (300 east %26amp; 33 east) both of which are about $30/day including tax (which is very steep here on garages). You drop off your party at the hotel with luggage to go to park, then walk back. So if the inconvenience of having to walk about 5-10 minutes is worth saving $15+/day, that%26#39;s an option. Be aware they charge more for SUVs.

I didn%26#39;t mean to insinuate other posters wouldn%26#39;t know of garages in the area, merely that there are few bargains in that neighborhood. I do occasionally see signs for very cheap daily parking in the area if you enter by a certain time, but it%26#39;s rarely available for overnight.
