Where to eat
Please read the ';stickie'; post at the top of the board titled New York City Restaurant Hot List. In my very first post I give a lot of recommendations. Do any sound good to you? I will be glad to elaborate and offer more ideas after you have reviewed it.
Where to eat
Voy%26#39;s suggestion is a good one--that sticky has lots of great recs.
It would help to know how many will be in your party and roughly what your budget is.
In the Times Square area I like the Cafe Edison (on 48th between 8th and B%26#39;way) for lunch. Good soups and sandwiches--nothing fancy--they call it ';The Polish Tea Room.';
For Italian, you could head west over to Ninth Avenue: Pietrasanta, Cara Mia, Mangia e Bevi, Basilica, and others. If you%26#39;re going during the pre-theater rush (6 to 7:30) call first in case you need a reservation. I%26#39;d skip eating in Little Italy--maybe just sightsee and have a pastry.
Don%26#39;t eat a lot of Dim Sum, so can%26#39;t help with that.
Another good resource is www.menupages.com. You can sort restaurants by neighborhood, and then sort within that list by price and review. You can also see menus, but be aware that the information on the menus (items/prices) might not be up to date.
For dimsum, try HSF or Golden Unicorn.
I second 9th Avenue for a good choice of restaurants - perhaps Rachel%26#39;s, which is owned by Pietrasantra would suit your liking. And in Chinatown, just look for the storefronts with adverts for dim sum, I eaten in a few, can%26#39;t remember any names, all were quite satisfactory.
Plus, Voy%26#39;s sticky is a great resource for restaurants---check it out.
No worries, if you have the resources, you won%26#39;t go hungry in NYC.
