YIKES! Arriving tomorrow-need a little help!

We arrive at Penn Station tomorrow morning at 8:43 and need to be at Radio City Music Hall for the 11 am show. We did this last year, and took a taxi--should we just plan on walking? How long will it take?

Fortunately, we are staying at the Westin, and most everything else we plan to do is in close proximity.

What a pain--if there was a way to refund our train, hotel and theatre tickets, I most certainly would. We%26#39;ve been looking so forward to this trip...now I am dreading it.

What a shame...I hope things go well for you. If there seems to be a long wait for taxis, maybe it would be worth your while to call a car service to meet you so you don%26#39;t miss the show. There is Carmel or Tel Aviv. Maybe you%26#39;ll get more helpful suggestions.

First of all, it is what it is, just come and you can walk it, it is not that far, just bundle up.

Once you are in the hotel you will be able to get taxis and you can walk where you have to go, please don%26#39;t dread it, think of it as an adventure.

Are you planning to go to the hotel first, or straight to Radio City? The walk to the hotel should take about 15 minutes, from the hotel to Rockefeller Center another 20 or so.

I had thought we%26#39;d go right to RCMH, but what would you suggest?

What about your luggage??

If you don%26#39;t have a lot of luggage, then by all means go straight to Rockefeller Center.

If you do catch a cab just be prepared to possibly be sharing it with other people.

It will be me, my sister, and our 2 daughters (11 %26amp; 12). We did this last year (same train, same performance at RCMH) and just toted our luggage with us to the show, and then checked into our hotel. We%26#39;re only there for 2 days, so we will pack light, and use a rolling duffle.

Since there are four of us, I can%26#39;t see us sharing a cab with anyone else. But the news reports have talked about how the fares are hiked up, and also it looks like the city is totally gridlocked, which would concern me that we might not make it in time--neither are ways I want to start our trip!

Thanks for the responses though--when I walk out of that train station tomorrow, I want to have a plan!

Then just walk and you will have not a problem, it is not that far and, time wise, will work out fine.

Have a great time and please don%26#39;t let this strike affect your trip. It may cause a little inconvenience, but you will have a great time, as the weather is good, bright %26amp; sunny, and it is holiday time!!!!

Enjoy!

Don%26#39;t dread your visit! People are civil and helpful; sidewalks and restaurants are much less crowded. Be sure to walk over from the Westin to Bryant Park, on 42nd St bet Fifth and Sixth. The Christmas Bazaar is fun, and the new skating rink (with skates and lockers on the house) is not crowded and very special. I believe it%26#39;s open well into the evening.

I take the train to Penn Station from NJ all the time and then walk to see a Broadway show which is near your hotel. I think of it as good exercise. Did this just this past Sunday.

Unless it is bitterly cold, it is definitely doable.

To walk from the Westin to the RCMH is more about 25-30 minutes just because of the crowds during the holiday season.

Enjoy your visit. Penn Station and the Westin is very central to most sites. Even Lincoln Center is a doable walk.

Surely you are not going to let union workers spoil your trip?

You have two hours to walk to the theatre for your show. That is plenty of time - you will be walking quite fast because it will be so cold!

I walked 2 9 y.o. and 2 7 y.o. from Penn Station to FAO Schwarz one year. They didn%26#39;t complain because there was so much to see and that didn%26#39;t even take us anywhere near 2 hours.

You will love it - just go and enjoy.
