Taxi from LGa to Times Square

Four of us going from LaGuardia to Times Square. Is it $35 per person or is it for all four? Are we better off in a town car and what is the cost difference.

Taxi from LGa to Times Square

Now that the strike is over the taxi would be by the meter and for the taxi, NOT per person. It will depend on traffic but fare should be $25-35. There will be a toll of $4.50 and you should tip 15-20% of the metered fare. You can reserve a town car for a fixed rate.

Pros/cons. The car service will ask you to phone when you have your luggage and you may have to wait 5-15 mins. Taxi can be quicker, but if there%26#39;s a line, it can take just as long. 6 of one, half a dozen of the other. Depends on when you%26#39;re coming and what hour. If you%26#39;re arriving in rush hour, reserve for a fixed rate car service. Otherwise, I%26#39;d take a taxi.

With our flight arriving at 1pm, would you consider that to be rush hour traffic in NYC?

We took a taxi from LaGuardia and it was cheaper than I expected. Less than $30. Although the lineup looked huge it went really quickly because so many taxis come by. The car service we took back to the airport was about $15 more. If you take a taxi, just be prepared for one heck of a ride!

Rush Hour in NYC begins at about 4:15, so you will be fine for 1pm. http://www.panynj.com/ check out this website. It gives transportation information for the city, just click on LaGuardia airport. Have Fun!

Lots of luggage?

Day of the week?

Answers bear upon the right solution. Fare is for the car, not per person.

If you have lots of luggage a taxi may not work.

The toll is $4, not $4.50, since the E-ZPass rate is $4 and all cabs are required by law to have an E-ZPass.

Also, you can skip the toll by telling the cabbie to use the free 59th Street Bridge instead of the Midtown Tunnel or Triborough Bridge. But this doesn%26#39;t make sense during times of heavy traffic.

Thanks NYWHIZ for the post on town cars, just booked for 26th Dec from JFK for $40 through Carmel.

Am I right in thinking that with toll of $4 I should give the driver about $50-$55?

Has anyone else used Carmel and has any comments?

Also, can anyone tell me the laws/rules on child seats as my 2 year old will be in the car too?

Many thanks in advance

Steve

Arriving on Friday the 30th at 1pm. Four of us with four bags. Don%26#39;t think a taxi will hold it all. Town car might be the best solution?

OTownTravelers, you can ask for a mini-van taxi at the airport. We told the dispatcher, and only waited about 5 minutes after he radioed for one. It held 4 of us with 4 pieces of luggage just fine.
