OK---we went during the strike so perhaps we had an unusual experience. We bought the 48 hour pass which is more expensive, obviously. We could have done it in one day for sure. We didn%26#39;t even use it the second day. If I were to do it all over again I would have used it the first day to acclimate myself to the areas and get the cool guided tour deal, BUT I would have skipped the second day b/c the subways are just much cheaper and much more convenient. We waited forever to get on that bus. I just hate waiting around and it takes too long to get where you are going when you have to make all those stops and wait for people to get on and off. Tour first day...subway the rest of the days. Subways are MUCH easier than I expected. Piece of cake with a map.
Grey Line Hop on Hop Off Bus Tour
Very interesting and informative. Congrats on using the subway!! Please chime in the next time folks post questions here worried about using it.
So, did you get to do all the things on your itinerary? I see you went to Serendiptiy, Chelsea Market and Madame Tussaud%26#39;s. What else?
Did you get some Fat Witch Brownies at Chelsea Market? Yum!!
Grey Line Hop on Hop Off Bus Tour
Yes, we did sample the Fat Witch Brownies. WOW, those are intense. Very rich and dense. I really enjoyed being able to watch them cook the brownies in the background. I also loved Sarabeth%26#39;s in Chelsea Market. Again, so neat to see them cooking their awesome cookies and jelly perserves right before your eyes. The kitchen supply store in Chelsea market was incredible. There was a picture of Emeril up in the store so I am assuming the best of the best enjoy the store as well. I LOVED the bright colored cooking tools, bowls, and casserole dishes. Just too neat. Final remark about Chelsea Market...we ate at a Thai food restaurant and they had this really great Iced Thai Tea. An interesting blend of coconut milk and tea and maybe some other spices. Cool ethnice experience.
I see the lines waiting for the buses in Times Square. They tend to be longest during holiday weekends and of course this time between Thanksgiving and New Year%26#39;s.
There are 2 main bus tours: Gray Line and City Sightseeing.
The subways are great but they are below ground, so you don%26#39;t see the sights. They%26#39;re only for getting from place to place.
For an above the ground view without the cost, use a city bus.
