I will be staying at the Essex House 12/23-12/26, would greatly appreciate information on where to park my rental besides the Essex as they do not have in/out priveleges.
Thank you!
Help! Parking garages/Lots near Central Park South
There are a few garages on Central Park South. But why will you have a rental car? You can%26#39;t drive with less than 4 people during rush hours while the strike is on.

are the restrictions in place for the weekend?
anyway, you%26#39;ll have to drive into the city after 11am on Friday 12/23 unless you have 4 in the car; strictly enforced
on Monday 12/26, not sure what the restrictions are for driving to get out of the city; hopefully the transit strike will be over by then

plan on paying $40+/day
The transit strike is probably going to be over by the time you get here, so for heaven%26#39;s sake, why do you care if you have in/out priveleges? If you are staying in Manhattan, you park your car when you arrive, and you don%26#39;t take it out again until you leave. You certainly don%26#39;t need or want a car to get around midtown!!!! There is a reason, after all, why 3/4 of Manhattan households do not own a car -- if the people who live there think a car is a needless burden, why would you think you would find a use for one?
Take the subway. It is fast, relatively cheap, safe (certainly safer than driving or walking anywhere in south FL!) and best of all, you don%26#39;t have to worry about where to park it.
Your hotel is more than amply served by convenient subway stations. The Essex House is on 59th Street (Central Park South) between Sixth and Seventh Avenues. You can catch the 1, A, B, C, and D trains at 59th/Eighth/Columbus Circle, the N, R, Q, and W at 57th and Seventh, the F at 57th and Sixth, and the N, R, and W at 59th and Fifth. All of these lines -- like all subway lines -- run 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Agree with GreenWhiteBlue, unless you%26#39;re going out of the city while you%26#39;re here, you really don%26#39;t need the car during your stay. You could probably find cheaper parking than the hotel provides though. The garage I%26#39;m thinking of is right on Central Park South I think between 6th %26amp; 7th aves. It may be the same as the hotel uses for all I know. Iconparking.com may be cheaper but they don%26#39;t have any garages on Central Park South. They do have a few on 58 st which is just 1 block south.
