Hotel help

I%26#39;ll be in NYC for the 2nd time in Feb 2006 (first half), for about a week. On the 1st one, i stayed at Edison Hotel. Great location, not bad rooms. This time, i checket it%26#39;s website and i found it a bit pricey. I know NYC is not quite known for good prices, when you talk about hotels, but...is there a better deal for us (me and my wife)? Thanks in advance.

Why not try a different neighborhood? The Upper West Side is wonderful, try The Lucerne, The Newton, The Beacon, On the Avenue or the Belleclaire. Lots of posts regarding these hotels, all very good.

It would help to know what price you want to pay or what the Edison is asking that you%26#39;d like to beat. I like quikbook.com and see the Best Western President in the same area as the Edison for about $119/night. Even better, imo, is the Best Western Hospitality is an all suite hotel with kitchenettes in most rooms. They are also available for $119 for much more space and would give you a different location to explore, still in midtown.

The Beacon and the Excelsior are also worth considering. On the Upper West Side, a lovely residential area with easy access to midtown. The Beacon is also all suites with kitchenettes, very handy for eating some meals in to save some money.

The West Eleventh St. Townhouse is yet another good budget option in Greenwich Village that also has apt. style rooms but in a small ';inn'; rather than a typical hotel.
