A few good restaurants in Chelsea include Le Zie (Italian) and Maroon%26#39;s (both Jamaican and American soul food). Also Cafeteria, kind of trendy-ish.

Try visiting www.menupages.com. You can see a list of restaurants in Chelsea, and can sort them by price, reviews, and see pdfs of the actual menus. Please note that some of the menus might be outdated and that prices might be higher than what you see. Also do a search on these boards of ';chelsea'; for some tips.

I can%26#39;t speak about whether under-21s are allowed in jazz clubs, but you can try googling: Iridium, Blue Note, Jazz Standard, Smoke, Jazz at Lincoln Center (Dizzy%26#39;s cafe). Most will have websites, and you can email directly.

Lu, check out the schedule at our brand new GORGEOUS center for Jazz at Lincoln Center [http://www.jalc.org/]. There are performances as well as special lectures and programs. Your son might be interested in one of the workshops or lectures being offered during your visit. If you can see ANYTHING in the Allen Room, do it!

Beyond that, there is a website that offers up-to-date and well presented performance information. It is here: [www.bigapplejazz.com]

As far as your son being allowed in, I don%26#39;t think that would be problem, but they probably won%26#39;t serve him alcohol. But to be sure, give the clubs a call and ask the question.

You can definately get into The Blue Note. I was there with my friend and her then 14 year old son on a Saturday night, we had a great time.

Besides that, it is a classic and a New York landmark (in the figurative sense, that is).
