I will be flying into to Newark over the Holidays and wanted to spend some time in NY (I have tickets to Spamalot). I was planning to drive into NY, but now, due to the strike, I think I will take the PATH system. How long is the wait at Journal Square?
Also, if you think this is the right way to go ... can I buy the fare cards online anywhere .... if not, where can I go to buy the fare cards quickly?
Thanks so much for any help.

Check this website for info....they run pretty frequently.
You would need to get to the 33rd Street stop, then a short walk to Times Square for your show, if the strike is still on (hopefully not).

Yes, this will work, with a short walk, as stated above. There are extra trains now during the strike, but I don%26#39;t know the schedule on what hopefully will be a regualr day.
I believe you can use a pay-per-ride MetroCard for the PATH train. Paying for the PATH is easy at the station. There are may automated machines.
Use the link above or go to these websites for more info, and they have links to PATH:

you can take the PATH
(www.pathrail.com) but you have to get to Newark Penn Station from Newark Airport first
to do that you need to take the Airtrain to Newark Airport train station then take NJ Transit train to Newark Penn Station which is next station over

personally, it isn%26#39;t worth the hassle to switch to PATH; I would stay on NJ Transit train and take it into NY Penn Station
or there are airport buses from Newark Airport to Port Authority Bus Terminal; these buses are running
Thank you all ... very helpful- Happy Holidays!
PATH is nice and so easy. Just a few stops in Jersey City and Newark . Sit back and relax and your there.
If you want to do it the budget way and don%26#39;t have a lot of luggage, you can get a local bus at Newark Airport(#62) to Newark Penn Station and then get the PATH train from there. It%26#39;s as fast as waiting for the airtrain which is really just the next NJ Transit train that comes along. And it%26#39;s $2.75 total whereas the ';Airtrain'; is much more.
