Some Strike Transportation Options

Some ideas for alternatives:

1) Staten Island Ferry is running

2) PATH service is running from 33rd %26amp; 6th Avenue down to the World Trade Center, and will accept the per ride Metrocard.

3) If you are interested in Harlem you can take MEtro North at Grand Central Station to 125th Street. THey also make various stops in the Bronx, with a special train to %26amp; from Yankee Stadium.

4) LIRR makes stops in Queens, from Penn Station.

5) The Hop-on, Hop-off bus is a great alternative for tourists, can see all part of city, get on %26amp; off, and have a great time.

6) Rent a bike!!!!!

7) Buses from the airports are running.

8) SOme private bus lines, such as Command that service Brooklyn, are running.

Any other ideas, feel free to add them, this was off the top of my head while I am sitting at my desk waiting to start my day!

Hang in there, everyone!!!!

Some Strike Transportation Options

Walk :)

You see loads more of NY walking anyway - I%26#39;d recommend it wherever possible even without the strike :)

Some Strike Transportation Options

I think I saw that the water taxis are still running as well. There are several stops along Manhattan and Brooklyn.

You are right, some water taxis routes are running, forgot to add that, that is why I asked for help!!!

Just to let you know the water taxi is not running to Fulton Ferry (DUMBO) in Brooklyn. Personally, I think this is ridiculous since it would help me out.

Hitchhike.

Many folks are carpooling and need that 4th rider to make it into Manhattan.

My colleagues and I carpooled this morning, and we ZIPPED into Manhattan from Queens at 7:20 AM! Unbelievable! Took about 40 minutes, and we used the Midtown Tunnel. Much faster than a regular day. Car traffic in Manhattan is low.

True, if you don%26#39;t have the funds for the Midtown Tunnel toll, the lines are longer at the Queensboroguh Bridge.

However, if you do not have 4 people in the car during rush hour, you will be turned away. Much of the traffic has been caused by drivers not taking this seriously. As the radio traffic guys said this morning, ';1 is not 4, 2 is not 4 and 3 is not 4. Four is four, and the NYPD is serious, folks.';

We can only get limited info regarding the strike in England - has any one given any indication how long it will be going on for and could anyone tell us how to get from Times Square to the Statue of Liberty if the strike continues over the Xmas break. Many thanks for your help.

The Airtrain is also running from JFK. You can take that to Jamaica, then take the LIRR to Penn Station. Be prepared for large crowds and a long wait.

Bob

Brummie,

I believe you can take the Path train at Penn Station to the WTC stop and then walk from there.

Can anyone confirm that?

Bob

Yes, that is correct.

unless they change the PATH schedule, to get from Penn Station NYC (33rd and 6th ave) to World Trade Center, you%26#39;ll need to take PATH train into NJ to the Pavonia/Newport or Grove Street stations then transfer to another PATH train to WTC
