Amtrak from Lancaster to NYC only lists Penn Station as a stop. We are going to MSG. I thought MSG had a station there? If not how far from Penn Station to MSG and if the show starts at 2:00 do you think if I book the 5:10 return train we will have enough time? Or should I go with the 6:30? Thanks so much.
Would appreciate some help with Train info
Penn Station is THE only NY stop for Amtrak. No worries though, MSG is just upstairs from Penn Station.
Would appreciate some help with Train info
Thanks so much for the quick response. I appreciate it.
Do you think it would be pushing it to book the 5:10 home if show starts at 2:00 and runs 2 hrs 15 min to 2 1/2 hrs?
That%26#39;s fine. Like Bettina said, MSG is directly above the RR station, so all you have to do is exit and keep going down the escalators. However, if you want have leisure time to stop at the restroom, the MSG store or grab a Krispy Kreme donut in Penn Station, get yourself for the next train.
Well, like a previous advisor told you, Penn Station and Madison Square Garden are right next door to each other. If I were you, I would check out when the next train after 5:10 is and go for that--unless it%26#39;s too long a wait between trains. Then you can do some shopping at Macy%26#39;s (also very nearby) or some such. Then again, if the show does let out at 4:30, you should have enough time, provided you know exactly where to go to catch the train.
Thanks you said the magic words...if I know exactly where to go. I don%26#39;t. I think I%26#39;ll take the 6:30 home. Take my daughter to Macy%26#39;s. How far is the Top of the Rock from MSG. We have serveral hours before the show to explore and that is one thing she wanted to do. Thanks again.
Top of Rockefeller Center (which is where the giant Christmas tree is, by the way, as well as the skating rink) is 15 blocks north and two long blocks east, at 49th Street between 5th and 6th Aves.
Thanks for all your help. Appreciate it very much.
However, it should be noted that if you do go to Macy%26#39;s (or even if you don%26#39;t!) you can catch any Sixth Avenue subway train (the B, D, F, and V -- anything with an orange sign) at the 34th Street/Sixth Avenue/Herald Square station right outside Macy%26#39;s front door, and take that two stops uptown to 47th-50th Streets/Rockefeller Center, and the GE Building and TOTR are right there -- you don%26#39;t even need to walk outside!
