I%26#39;m going to Buffalo with my boyfriend in Dec for a Football game and we are staying at the Hyat. We actually got a free night with our points, however in reading these reviews on TA it sounds really bad! Is it that bad, I mean it is a Haytt?
Thanks!
Hyatt - is it that bad?
yea its a hyatt but it went bankrupt or somethign and is getting taken over by raddisson maybe, marriott, wyndham, something like that. so i guess you really cant expect good service or quality in this transition time.........
Hyatt - is it that bad?
They have a great steakhouse-
EB Greens-it gets great reviews-I haven%26#39;t been there in about a year, but the last time I was there it was amazing.
Well I hope it won%26#39;t be too bad, I%26#39;ll let you all know how bad it really was next week eeee! I%26#39;m actually looking forward to trying the Steakhouse, as I%26#39;ve heard it%26#39;s very good....
o yea how could i forget eb greens is really really good. its not cheap though.....
The place is in need of a total rehab. Like much of proud Buffalo, now a complete embarrassment. Watch out at night. One side empties into Main Street and they%26#39;ll warn you after dark...don%26#39;t walk anywhere...buildings are boarded up, deathly eerie in the wind whipped cold. You absolutely are NOT going to believe its a Hyatt. I never stay there anymore. Sooooo.... bad hotel, bad game (Pats are back in gear now that all the players are returning from injury), but a City with good food, warm and genuine locals. Everytime I visit I do have fun....get past the boarded up buildings and connect with some locals...you%26#39;ll enjoy yourselves. Go PAts!!!!!
The hotel is just fine......I am from Buffalo, you will be just fine.....The hotel was sold to Marriott, because Hyatt was too involved in the building of the new casino on the Canadian side of Niagara Falls....Main St is deserted at night, but check out Chippewa St (the bar district)
Thanks for the honesty! I guess I won%26#39;t really know what to expect untill I get there. I%26#39;m used to staying usually at 4-5 star hotels and I%26#39;ve stayed at many Hyatt%26#39;s which worries me, as I think I may be dissappointed. Oh well it%26#39;s only 1 night and it was free so I can%26#39;t complain too much?
What about our car? I hear that there is no parking at the hotel and we have to park across the street? Is it safe there?
I%26#39;ve heard alot about Chipewa Street, any place in particualr I should check out: restaurants, bars??
Thanks!
Its not as bad as you are hearing.....its a beautiful hotel...renovated back in the 80%26#39;s when it was a rundown office building/and furniture store.
Parking is safe....
Any place on chippewa is cool...there are about 30+ places to go to....maybe more now....They open so fast who can keep up
Jim
Chippewa!!! Oh yeah- the bars in Buffalo are open until FOUR A.M.!!! As the new country song by Big %26amp; Rich goes, ';And Chippewa%26#39;s where we go when we%26#39;re up in Buffalo. Don%26#39;t you know those Yankees drink enough to drown!?!?';
Most people I know like Level and the attached McMonkeys next to it. Also, Soho is quite popular and Darcy McGees is a cool place to hang out as well.
How was your trip?
