Short trip report

Second time in NY this year used my girlfriends birthday as an excuse to go but really wanted to go myself.

Sunday 11th arrived at Newark from Dublin after a really comfortable flight with continental, rang Tel Aviv cars to let them know we arrived and they were there in less than 5 minutes, car was ok.

Was a bit worried about staying in the Milford Plaza after reading a few non favouable reviews but I was delighted when I saw the room, it looked newly refurbished and was spacious, last April when we were there we stayed in the Hotel Metro and that was a bit grubby and only half the size and cost a lot more than the Milford. Plus the location was perfect, less than a minutes walk from Time Square.

After droping the bags in the room we took a walk towards Time square and we met this guy selling tickets for spamalot, I nearly wet myself, I had tried last time we were over to get tickets without luck and even this time I couldnt get them so I was delighted when he said $70 each, and the show started in 10 minutes, i couldnt believe my luck. The seats were right at the back of the balcony but because its not a big theatre we could see everything perfectly, it was great, a really funny show!

We decided not to do the ESB or the Statue of Liberty as we done them last time.

We used our 2 for 1 tickets for the top of the rock and after doing the ESB last time I couldnt get over how quick and efficient it was, from buying the tickets to actually on the deck took less than 30 minutes and the views were spectacular as the sun was just starting to set.

Did some shopping in the afternoon.

On monday night we went to Virgils, as we couldnt stop thinking about it for the last few months...belt had to be loosened after that.

Tuesday we did Central park in the morning and saw the ice rink and the John Lennon memorial, it was bloody freezing!!!! More shopping in the afternoon. Went to O Lunneys on 46th st and had some really nice food there.

Wednesday went down to Chinatown and Soho and you guessed it more shopping in the afternooon!

Went to see King Kong in the Amc theatre, was very good, then a few sociable drinks in Smiths bar and home.

Thursday a lot more shopping :( and even bought something in Tiffanys for the birthday girl which nearly gave me heart failure.

Went for a few drinks (alot) and some food in Robert Emmetts across from the Milford, really nice place, good atmosphere and really nice food.

Girlfriend was tired and went to bed but I was determined to ';taste'; a few more different drinks in the surrounding bars, ended up in Scruffy Duffy%26#39;s nearby and had a great time with a gang of New Yorkers (';great time'; is presumed as I cant remember a thing about the night)

Awoke the next morning to what I thought was an aneurysm and a jacket which wasnt mine, so whoever has my jacket if your reading this I WANT MY IPOD BACK!!!!

Pcaking my case with a bad hangover wasn%26#39;t a great experience either.

We couldnt get Tel Aviv for the trip back to the airport so used the Hotels shuttle bus for $20 a person, we were the only ones on it so it was great, had a lovely, if a little mad, driver called Yuri from Russia who told us his life story from start to finish.

Got to the airport and was finally sobering up and started panicking thinking I forgot to pack most of my stuff during my earlier packing while still drunk stint, but everything was there.

Had another great time and was really impressed with the top of the rock, was a bit cold for my liking, but it did give it that christmassy feel.

Should be back again next year when ever the credit card cools down.

Short trip report

Thanks for the great report! Sounds like you had a rollicking good time! Did you get to try Brooklyn beer?

Sorry to hear about the jacket and iPod loss. If it is any consolation, is the new-ofund jacket better and does it fit well? I%26#39;ve had similar experiences, but usually I%26#39;ve come away with equivalent or newer outerwear! Once, my partner was tapped on the shoulder at a bar by a shivering, very large man wearing her very small coat, and he said, I think this is yours....

Short trip report

Yeah I tried the Brooklyn beer, quite liked it which was probably not a good thing!

New jacket actually looked pretty similar to the old one so when explaing the situation to my girlfriend I made it seem like it could have happened to anyone, I think deep down I was very surprised to even come home with one.

Ah I dont really mind about the Ipod, another one can be bought, I had a bloody good night that night so losing an Ipod was a small price to pay.

Forgot to mention that we got the subway to brooklyn and walked back over the bridge, which was amazing, and thanks to the directions I got off here it was really easy.
