JFK Airtrain to Subway Question

I am thinking about using Airtrain to the Jamaica Station. At the station can I buy a $5 Metrocard for Airtrain and then buy a 1 day unlimited fun pass for the subway at the same machine?

JFK Airtrain to Subway Question

You can pay AIRTRAIN-fare (5$) only with Metrocard Pay-Per-Ride card. 1-day-Funpass or any other Unlimited Rides-Metrocard is not valid for AIRTRAIN.

Another question, there will be four people traveling so can I get one $20 metrocard and use it for all four people or can one metrocard only be used by one person?

The pay-per-ride metro%26#39;s can be used by more than one person. So a $20 one would cover the 4 of your for AirTrain.

It%26#39;s only the Unlimited Ride cards that are non-transferable.

I just read about the Holiday bonus fare where it%26#39;s only $1 one way for subways the last week of December. Does that mean all four of us can use the $20 card for Airtrain and the subways?

This is the link of where I found out about the Holiday Bonus program.

Correct...but the Holiday bonuses won%26#39;t apply to the AirTrain fare. The $20 card would cover 4 people, you would need to purchase another pay-per-ride to get the Holiday deals for the subway.

But if you buy the $20 MetroCard don%26#39;t you get a $4 bonus so it%26#39;s like paying $20 for $24 worth.

Oh my bad...you are right.

yes you can buy the metrocard for the airtrain and then buy an unlimited fun pass at the same machine. You just have to do two separate transactions.

To correct an earlier reply, unlimited Metrocards are officially transferrable. But they can%26#39;t be used more than once within 18 minutes at the same station. So 2 people can%26#39;t share the same unlimited card for the same trip.

And making 2 separate transactions at a Metrocard vending machine will work, but if you try to make too many in a row with the same credit card, eventually they will deny the transaction.
